Update on Marta's Sucha Rug. This is a beautiful combination of colors.
![]() Marta gave us a Mini Workshop on Scrappy Rugs on December 16th Hook-In. Marta challenged us all to join in on one of these patterns. I am so excited about this! I can not wait to see how many of you will start your own Scrappy Rug to share with the group. She brought several copies of the free patterns from the book Scrappy Rugs, written by Bea Brock, for us to transfer to our own backing cloth. I have attached copies of these patterns to this email if anyone else would like to start one of these scrappy rugs. ![]()

This is Marta's new project. She is using dip dye swatches and transitional swatches in a #4 cut. I love the beautiful color combination. She has a gift for created magnificent rugs! As stated in the Rug Hooking magazine November / December 2014 article on "Floravians", transitional swatches are regular swatches dyed over a pastel colored wool. They blend harmoniously with their base swatch and add subtle variations to the overall look. Okay I have started my Scrappy Rug for our January meeting. I decided to do a primitive sun and star pillow. I hope to use up a lot of my left over wool strips. I still tend to cut more strips than I need for my projects. I hope to use this helpful hint in the future that I read in one of my much loved Rug Hooking Magazines. (Only cut enough strips that will take you 30 minutes to hook.)
I've been working on this scrappy pillow for about a week now. |
